The 3C team doing an action song
Putting up walls
David and Jill Blackmore mixing mortarThis week we received our first ever short term mission team. Anchalee and I were so blessed to have the team from the Christian City Church (Australia) come and minister with us and to us in Anchalee’s mountain home. Missionary teams are not all created equal, and this was one of the good ones. We were so impressed with this team’s preparation and attitude. It was a quick visit, but we made the most of our two days together.
When we arrived in the village, we spent the afternoon going hut to hut, praying for the sick. In the evening, when the villagers had come in from the fields, we took the team to an Aka village where the team had something for everyone. There were action songs for the kids, songs of praise, testimonies, a children’s story, a drama, and an alter call which compelled nearly all the adults come for prayers and healing. We spent the night at a tea plantation resort and then we girded our loins for a gruelling day of brickwork in the burning Thai sun.
The brickwork was the walls for the frog farm that our good friend Rudyard (also from Australia) and I poured the cement pads for last fall. It was a real joy to see the walls finally going up. There are only a few details left now we can fill it with baby frogs. The frog farm is the first of many projects planned to supplement the support of our children’s home. The 3C team also left us enough resources that we can begin a couple more projects, specifically a crop of bamboo (for the edible shoots) and a small fish farm.
Everyone was exhausted as we left the mountain village, but everyone also shared our sense of accomplishment over a successful couple of days. We are excited to have this new relationship with some first class mates.
Thank you very much to David and Jill Blackmore for making this such a great experience. David and Jill have been mentors and friends of Anchalee since she was a teen, and I am blessed that God has preserved that relationship to continue helping kids in Thailand. We believe a great future lay ahead for the dreams
we share.
God bless you all
Kim, Anchalee, Koko, Genesis, and Gideon.
